Mateo & Bernabé

Designed by TSMGO | Country: Spain

“The task provided by the Project Management Team (TSMGO) to the Design Team (Estudio Moruba) was to create a visual poem that would give personality to each of the creations of Mateo & Bernabé with a graphical design both recognisable and full of meaning.

Each of the varieties of beer would have the personality of a saint (without the liturgy or religious components) to make them more personable. The characteristics of each variety would be seen more clearly and would tell the story of each Saint associated with the place of which he is patron, to invite the commemoration of the saint’s day.”

Graphically the use of numbers sets the product apart from the rest of Artisan beers and successfully transmits the sensation of an artisan product made with care and attention to detail. This is then reflected in its well-crafted production and the product cards.

There are three principal elements:

The name of the saint that defines the beer’s personality.

The number that defines the date of their commemoration and creates a collection of beer bottles.

The engraving that reinforces and underpins the story behind the beer.

The tone of the communication is always playful with its message: “Bendita cerveza” (Blessed beer) which has a double meaning as it wants to mineralize its religious component whilst also acknowledging it. ”

Brouwerij ‘t Ij IPA

Designed by Redthumb | Country: The Netherlands

“Inspired by a tour of US microbreweries, Amsterdam’s Brouwerij het IJ decided to create their own US-punk-style IPA. Branding studio Redthumb was given it’s shortest ever brief (simply “Tits, tattoos, and skulls”) and created a design with enough punch to match the full flavoured brew. The design picks up on the the brewery’s rebellious nature and is a homage to east coast streetart and artists such as Rebel 8. Hand drawn in-house at Redthumb, the label reflects Brouwerij het IJ’s reputation for producing beers full of character and tongue-in-cheek attitude.”

Volim

Designed by Kitchen | Country: Czech Republic

“The brief was to create packaging for a small local honey producer from Serbia. We used hand-drawn illustrations in a traditional Balkans naive-painting style. For each type of honey we created appropriate illustrations (flower honey, linden honey, forest honey).

the name “Volim” means “I love” in Serbian, so there is emotional connection with the product.”

Complexus

Designed by Miguelfreitasdesign | Country: Portugal

“The main concept for the brand and label design is the idea of complexes and a new approach to a wine label design. In Portugal wine labels are usually traditional and so we wanted to break that idea by using an image of forgotten things, like postcards or old images, but with a strong feeling of complexes. You don’t have to hide behind a mask because you don’t know anything about wine, it’s easier to say you just like to drink it. Forgot all your complexes and just have fun.”

Outòcton

Designed by Senyor Estudi | Country: Spain

“During the Mancommunity period in the early 20th century, the Empordà was a point of reference in Catalan poultry farming, and many shows and competitions were held here. The Empordanese Aperdiuada hen –a minority breed that lays peculiar dark, speckled eggs– almost became extinct during the Civil War. Fortunately, some specimens survived on a farm in Castelló d’Empúries, which led to the recovery of this special breed.”

Devil’s Peak Brewing Company

Designed by Just Design | Country: South Africa

“Born as a response to the one-dimensional beer culture in South Africa, The Devil’s Peak Brewing Company (DPBC) produces brews unlike any other beer you’re likely to find locally. The designs reflect the intricacy of the different beer styles and the brewer’s passion to create beers with unique character and depth. Craftsmanship, idiosyncratic style and the underlying belief of ‘truth to material’ – where the insides inform the outside – equals 4 distinctive styles with 4 equally standout designs. Recently released, the designs are already winning public attention at beer appreciation festivals and on Facebook and twitter.”

Student Work – Mara Rodríguez & Beatrice Menis

Designed by Mara Rodríguez & Beatrice Menis | Country: Spain

“The aim of this project was to design a packaging for take away. Nowadays there are infinite types of fast foods which offer take away, that’s why we chose to narrow it down to a special sector of the market. We chose to focus on lactose intolerance, offering take away dairy-free breakfasts! At Müd we offer cupcakes, donuts, cookies and loaf cakes which you can combine with coffee, tea or hot chocolate and everything is without lactose!Feel free to add any type of dairy-free milk that you want such as almond, rice, oat, etc.We offer two different packagings, one for the combination of coffee and cookie/loaf cake and a bigger one of coffee and muffin/donut.Everything comes with two different kind of stickers, both applied on the sides of the packagings, ones with what there’s inside of the packaging and the other ones with emotional sentences about your mood. Finally we wanted to create a brand specialized in dairy-free products but with a modern graphic style which could easily reach to a bigger target.”
